ECMO for the National Specialised Children's Hospital Okhmatdyt

The Eneïda Foundation supplied the ECMO device to Department of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care of the National Specialised Children's Hospital “Okhmatdyt”.

Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation, or ECMO, is an advanced life support technique used for patients with life-threatening heart and lung problems. It is a temporary mechanical breathing and heart support used only when all of the standard treatments for those problems have already been tried.

This device is very difficult to use. It should only be used by highly qualified specialists.

Okhmatdyt has been successfully using ECMO technology to save children's lives for several years. But there has been a nuance - up until now they have had to bring the machine in from other hospitals because they did not have the equipment on the ground.

Thanks to our joint work, the Okhmatdyt Hospital now has its own ECMO machine, which helps saving the lives of young patients!
